Mycelia
“If our senses were fine enough, we would experience the motionless resting rocks as dancing chaos.” (Friedrich Nietzsche)
In the beginning was – the forest. And the forest was everything and everything was forest, an immense breathing being of trees, plants, fungi, inhabited by animals, humans and gods, a piece of real utopia.
Commedia Futura explores the super-organism forest and above all the organisms that hold everything together and network it, that nourish the forest and ensure communication among the trees: The fungi, the mycelium, whose dimensions and manifold functions are only just becoming visible.
And how does this become dance? By turning the stage action into an incessant movement, a breathing and morphing from which images develop, characters emerge and stories. “The resurrection of myths or gods of the forest In the mycelium”, is Minako Seki‘s and Wolfgang A. Piontek‘s approach. The material for Mycelia was created in intensive improvisations with the international ensemble of specially selected dancers.

“We as humans, and as part of the entire environment on Earth, live under the presence of gravity. When we align our body with the line of gravity, energy can flow through us more fluidly.”
The way to alignment is for the body to make small adjustments until the line of gravity is clearly felt. These small movements can become very subtle and delicate, so you can become very familiar with defining and shifting the image of the braid using our body and dance movement.
How do fungi weave themselves and the web?
How can we express the biological ecology in our dance?
What is the network system for humans, on a social media level? How is sensory information processed?
How do we collectively contribute to emotional behaviour?
If dance can communicate as non-verbal communication, how does it affect emotional intelligence, motor skills and social awareness?

Koro
Transcultural music and dance performance
In the Brazilian candomblé cult an archetypal pantheon connects to percussion rhythms, dance and coral singings in a unique and fascinating way.
koro contextualises the music of candomblé with a new harmonic and sound wise environment.
Samples of the original call- and response singings are placed in the centre of contemporary compositions and experience the listener the spirituality of the candomblé through a musical performance supported by dance performance and digital visual art.
In many nature religions music functions as a medium to stabilise a connection to the divine and otherworldly. koro focusses this connection between musical structure and spiritual patterns of behaviour in order to establish a deeper comprehension for musical performance within an extended concept of music. The extension consists of the interplay between dancelike presented religious rituals, improvised sounding structures but also conventional composing techniques and provides an interactive access to Brazilian culture for performers and listeners.
The Ark
“There are those who believe that the present day is the best it has ever been and that our society is akin to an ark constructed from the remnants of a bleaker world. On the other hand, some contend that we are currently experiencing tumultuous times marked by radical transformation.”
“The Ark seeks to explore our current state of affairs and whether we will be overwhelmed by the turbulent waters that surround us. This interdisciplinary production delves into social constructs and future visions, drawing upon perspectives from both the past and present.”

“Blue flames burn the hottest, especially when ignited by passion and desire.”
An aesthetic homage to the art work of Bran Sólo @bransolo , this installation art performance explores the poetics of the erotic and the metamorphose of the being.
In this blue garden of Eros a male body rises and sinks back in, slowly giving away hints of what it was, what it is and what it may become. The voyeur is faced with an ever changing body, ever moving, ever discovering and ever burning blue.
“And the night sky blooms with fire
And the burning bed floats higher
And she’s free to fly”

The Childhood I kept to Myself
The Childhood I Kept to Myself is a solo moving body project by Edegar Starke, made in 2016, that investigates the multiplicity of the being, the coexistence of so many different cultures, religions, sexes, etc., on the metamorphic constitution of one single being.
Looking back, the oppositions, the search of belonging and the sense of misfiting were always part of my daily life, weather I could realized it consciously or not.
Divided between getting the world’s acceptance and being honest and true to everything that I was, I found myself in plenty of spaces created by me to enable that existence. This piece intents to walk a path towards simplifying, towards understanding that our differences can inhabit the same body, the same world, and that other than bringing us apart our differences can bring us together.
“What are you afraid of? What are you ashamed of? What are you?”
This piece is an open window to a landscape of metamorphosis, creatures and magic, a secret retreat for when the days are gray and for when you can’t understand. This is a beating heart. This is my body sharing The Childhood I Kept to Myself.”
